All About Mrs. Swierzewski
Hello. My name is Tania Swierzewski and I will be your child's first grade teacher for the upcoming school year. I began teaching in the Albany City School District in 1989, after I graduated from SUNY Cortland. Since that time I have taught 2nd, 4th, 1st, Pre-k and Kindergarten at New Scotland Elementary. This year I am happy to join the Delaware Community family .
I grew up in Rockland County with my 6 brothers and 2 sisters. At the time, my father was an Assemblyman so we spent many summers here in Albany. I was always involved in school sports, my favorites being soccer and softball. When I was in 4th grade I entered a basketball contest (Hot Shot Contest) in which I made it to the state finals at Madison Square Gardens. I came in 7th place in the state for my age group!
After I graduated from Cortland, I moved to Albany where I started teaching and taking classes at SUNY Albany to obtain my Masters Degree. In 1997, I married my husband Jim. Together we have 4 children: Logan, Parker, Camden, and Rylyn. We also have 2 kittens, Marbles and Mittens.

Here is a picture of my family taken 6 summers ago in Colorado. We drove cross country visiting many of our country's national parks. Three summers ago my children and I drove across country again, following a southern route. We are trying to visit every state in the United States. I have 3 states left to visit (Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii).
